Biblical citations inscribed on U.S. military weapons is an apparent reference to Second Corinthians 4:6 of the New Testament that reads “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

La Familia Michoacana, one of Mexico’s most violent drug cartels, claims its thugs are devout evangelical Christians and has its own “bible.” The group’s beliefs call for members to abstain from drugs themselves and do charity work, but to torture or kill anyone who betrays or opposes them.

Military burns unsolicited Bibles sent to Afghanistan

Military personnel threw away, and ultimately burned, confiscated Bibles that were printed in the two most common Afghan languages amid concern they would be used to try to convert Afghans, a Defense Department spokesman said Tuesday. The unsolicited Bibles sent by a church in the United States were confiscated about a year ago at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan because military rules forbid troops of any religion from proselytizing while deployed there.
