Tiger, forget Buddhism, find Christ: Brit Hume on Fox

By Cathy Lynn Grossman
Posted: January 3, 2010.

Print: USA Today

“The extent to which he can recover seems to me depends on his faith. He is said to be a Buddhist. I don’t think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith. My message to Tiger would, ‘Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world.”

The fact that people see the need for outside forgiveness as being so large frightens me like nothing else can. The only thing (read: person) he needs forgiveness from is his wife.

As a more general comment: I don’t know what being forgiven by a third party would ever do for you. It makes no sense to me. :(

Uh, Brit, I think that Tiger needs to be concerned about forgiveness from his wife and all the people he betrayed by his hypocritical image. What planet are you living on?

Forgiveness by 3rd parties leads to one believing they have gotten away with something.

Q: How many criminals go to church to be forgiven and then go straight back out to commit more crimes?

A: Most of them.

Forgiving yourself leads to a better understanding of the problem and becoming a better person.

With tiger and all human so-called failures ignorance is the culprit.

Now the evolution of consciousness process is responsible for our ignorance.

Most would rather be called sinners than ignorant. Tiger should not feel guilt but regret that he succumbed to ignorance.

The evolution of consciousness process that created the human species did not create humans with perfect intelligence. Intelligence comes to us in spurts and some have had more spurts than others.

This is what an expert is: an unknown drip under pressure.

Don’t be alarmed or upset with me if you don’t understand a word I just stated neither do the religious folks.

better than the story itself was the comments posted.  i read about 6 pages of them and some posts were advertising Christianity as a true path to redemption.  it sickens me that any individual of any religion can assert their path as the ultimate truth when 4000 other faiths contradict it.  as for buddhism, hume is oblivious to what he’s talking about, besides, i find it very VERY hard to believe woods follows buddhism with any passion.

Brit is making the arrogant assumption that the majority of his benefactors, i.e., corporations and the fawning public who buy his branded or pitched merchandise, will only accept his reform if it is sanctioned by their preferred (in the US) atonement process.  Tiger is a world icon and he has more non-Christian fans than Brit would like to acknowledge.  In fact, many of his non-US fans (even non-evangelical Christians) may view his sexual prowess as a confirmation (if not a duty) of his lofty status.

This matter just confirms what Fox is.  People who would be offended by this garbage already dismiss them.  Our problem is that too many Americans don’t see industrial-theocratic axis’ hold on them and their wallets particularly when the axis’ aims are supported by a trusted (though not trustworthy) fake news source.

Researcher,

It is a new year but you spout the same nonsense.  Actually, you have some new stuff: “Now the evolution of consciousness process is responsible for our ignorance.”. What on earth does that even mean?

“Tiger should not feel guilt but regret that he succumbed to ignorance.”.  Really? I

Keep up the amusement.

This is all god’s fault, by the way.

Had the creator of the universe not made Tiger Woods so handsome, charming, physically fit, athletic and desirable, outrageously attractive women wouldn’t want to sleep with him.

I’m not suggesting that sleeping with dozens of women while married is cool. Maybe we should instead ask whether great-looking, charismatic, successful people should marry. Or perhaps we should ask whether monogamy is realistic for certain people.

The shame and scorn of millions of people — including friends and family — would change how I act much more than seeking forgiveness from a man who could never give it ... since he died nearly 2,000 years ago.

It means you have much learning to do in your life. But be of good cheer the Buddhists believe that there is a good chance you will have many lives to learn what it means.

Someday you will discover that the intellect is like a library that contains information that only can become understanding if realization occurs. And realization only occurs when there is humility or what some call meekness and so far I cannot find one atheist with humility or meekness. But they exist don’t they? And I suspect you have no idea what I am saying. But you will someday as the evolution of consciousness process will ensure you of that.

Just call it all nonsense that way you can keep your materialistic paradigm intact and continue to be a library of information in the section called scientism.

And you thought that was all nonsense to teach that the meek shall inherit the earth. Oh well and so it goes on and on that ignorance thing. Here is something that will blow your mind that ignorance has its origin in innocence.

Actually it appears that atheism may be an intermediate step between religious dogma and understanding. So be of good cheer you have moved past religious dogma and that may indeed be a good sign of your evolution of consciousness process.

@researcher: I find your habit of talking like you are far along in your ‘evolution of consciousness process’, acting like you know everything while patronizing those who disagree with you by telling them how ‘some day’ they’ll be as great as you, to be the very opposite of humility and meekness.

As far as I’ve seen, it is ONLY the unbeliever who is truly humble. It is only the unbeliever who is willing to say ‘I don’t know’ in response to the unknown. It is the theist always needs to pretend they do know.

Researcher, you say th at information becomes understanding if realisation occurs. I agree. It is called thinking, the very same thinking you derogatorily refer to thinking as a ‘materialist paradigm’ .

Makes me wonder how you would prefer your intellect-free realisation to occur.  Magic mushrooms? Lobsang Rampa?  Deepak Chopra? Rev Moon?

I am sorry, but anyone who espouses a thinking free world must not be taken seriously.

Hey, lay off Brit guys. Tiger would be a huge recruit for his team if they can land him. Can you imagine how many tickets he’d sell?!
