hey, progress. Maybe Sam got through just a tad after all. The image is not large enough though, you can’t even read the print, let alone examine them carefully. But of course the gesture is the message here and this is no complaint at all. It would be so magnificent if the cartoons were on every front page, (and I mean occupying it) in the same defiance! And as the emblem like a coat of arms on the corner of all the 24 news channels. Hey one can dream..

Andrew Sullivan is courageous.  He clearly believes that authentic religious faith is rooted in love.  Reasonable people may well disagree.  Nevertheless, there is a measure of comfort in seeing an intense believer intensely angered by such disgusting terror.

Well it seems to me he has felt the pressure of people who prefer moral principle for its own sake rather than as a commandment of their ideological dogma. It doesn’t comfort me any more than does the fact that the catholic church recently pat itself on the back for forgiving Galileo. As Sam has said “the pressure comes from outside”. And if I remember aright he was unscrupulous in his tactics against Harris in their print debate.

Anyway I don’t respect people’s sincerity(which I can’t determine anyway) I would rather evaluate their reasons. This is not meant to disparage his courageous defiance. But I won’t naively forget the things he has said before(and still maintains).
