The Supreme Court agreed to hear a case from Christian Legal Society, a Christian student group, which was banned from using facilities at UC Hastings because it excluded homosexuals and non-Christians.
The group lost its case at the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, in San Francisco, but had won a similar case three years ago against an an Illinois law school at the Seventh Circuit, in Chicago.
excerpt:
Americans United for Separation of Church and State, which had filed a brief supporting the law school in the Ninth Circuit, issued a statement on Monday urging the Supreme Court to rule in favor of the law school.
“Groups that wish to engage in discrimination should not expect public subsidies,” said the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, the organization’s executive director.
