One reason for non-believers’ unpopularity is the belief that you need God in order to be good—or generous.

Non-believers do good to do good. I can’t help thinking that bellievers do good because they want a reward in heaven - for themselves.

Churches shouldn’t get tax deductions, nor should married couples or parents. Cigarettes and beer shouldn’t have extra taxes either. All of these are simply government intervention to steer behavior towards their idea of morality.

Great news and a wonderful thing to hear! Makes my chest swell with pride in hearing like-minded people taking great interest in humanity and the suffering of mankind!
I am proud to be an Atheist!

As all the knowlege that conceived a god came from the human mind- I would think it obvious that the “Good” that we seek is already there!

it scares me when i hear from the religious folks that if was not for God, they are capable of evil acts. The real moral people know the difference.
Luis Buñuel said it best:
“If someone were to prove to me right this minute that God, in all his luminousness, exists, it wouldn`t change a single aspect of my behavior”

As always, Dawkins delivers a thoughtful argument. However, there are some really poorly structured sentences in here.
“Incidentally, because churches are automatically classified as charities for taxation purposes is a disgrace.” What??
Does no one proof read this stuff before it goes into the Washington Post??
