I don’t know if there is any way to not offend a zealot. Their egos are so bound up in the belief system they have chosen, an attack against god is an attack against the zealot, and they respond as such. They do not realize that their absolute fear of those who do not believe is a reflex that proves that at some level they too understand their belief system is weak in the light of reason. With the apostate out of the picture, the zealot does not have to face this uncomfortable reality. It is so unfortunate that so much human potential is hobbled in such a manner.
