Any bets on how active these guys are in actually making sure the practice doesn’t occur on their watch? Or will they shake their heads, tut-tut and say nothing on the grounds it is not their business?

I know that we as atheists are a skeptical lot, and that’s a good thing.  But there is a world of difference between skepticism and cynicism.  This is a terrrible and inhumane practice, any reduction, on whatever grounds, is a good thing….A good start.

Next up:  banning the culturally-accepted practice of male circumcision in the US.  Doctors will tout its questionable “benefits.”  Parents will say, “we don’t want our boy to be too different than other boys in the locker room.”  Women will cry, “we prefer sex with circumcised men only.”

—It’s still an unnecessary sexual mutilation performed on most male infants in the US without their consent.  Why not wait until they’re 18 and then ask them if they want to be circumcised..?

Isn’t it wonderful how people ban certain things depending on whether they BELIEVE it is against their BELIEF or not. Time and again, they openly show that religion is a tool made by man to oppress other men and women. Nothing less, nothing more.
