Despite recent cases in which Roman Catholic bishops failed to report or suspend priests accused of child sexual abuse, the bishops head into a meeting in Seattle on Wednesday proposing no significant revisions to the abuse prevention policies they passed in 2002 at the height of the scandal.

With apologies for the terminology, the catholic church has ben totally impotent in dealing with any of the issues surrounding child and sexual abuse by priests. There is no apparent accountability of any kind within this organization of men, because quite plainly, the entire organization is looking into the sky waiting for their “supervisor” to arrive and enforce the “rules.” Moreover, this bankrupt concept of “fraternal correction” is akin to expecting one child molester to scold another over degrees of pederasty. How exactly does that pedagogical moment transpire? Bishop Tom to Bishop Dick: “God is watching you.” Bishop Dick to Bishop Tom: “That’s what makes it so exciting.”
