excerpt:
The attack on Friday was not the first attempt on Mr. Westergaard’s life. In February 2008, three men, two from Tunisia and a Dane of Moroccan descent were arrested in Denmark in what the police called a “terror-related assassination plot.”
...Islamic militants have had a bounty on Mr. Westergaard’s head, as well as that of his editor, Flemming Rose, since the publication of the cartoon. In October, Mr. Westergaard told the Canadian newspaper The National Post that he had lived in “10 different safe houses and driven 10 different cars.”

Clearly, however, Islam is peaceful religion whose adherents are willing and able to live peacefully within western societies. Witness the large number of Islamic groups who denounce this event in favor of freedom of religious expression.
