Excellent article! Atheism as a taboo in the US is about as bad as here in Brazil. Here, anything that escapes the norm is labelled as evil or morally lacking. Take homosexual rights, here, it has just taken its first steps into federal legitimacy, yet, there are judges that will try their best to marginalize gay couples. And as an engineer, I stumble very often upon people with higher education trying their best to justify prejudice. Every time that happens, C. Hitchens’s subtitle echoes to mind, “how religion poisons everything”.
