French minister urges burka ban
A ban on the burka in France would help stem the spread of the cancer of radical Islam, a female Muslim minister says. Ms Amara said she was “in favour of the burka not existing in my country”. The comments come as French MPs hold hearings on whether to ban the garment, which covers the body from head to toe.

While the French certainly are refreshing in their willingness to call a spade a spade, I’m not sure they can justify a legislative ban. After all, these women are wearing the thing of their own free (albeit brainwashed) will. Circumstances where women are harassed, threatened or otherwise forced by family members should have other remedies under law.
