Author Sam Harris joins plot to have Pope arrested

By MARC HOME May 16, 2010.

Print:

Sam Harris, the atheist writer, has launched an appeal to fund a legal bid to have the Pope arrested when he visits Britain.

The American neuroscientist is seeking financial backing for the campaign that is being led by British writers Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens. The pair have asked human-rights lawyers to produce a case for charging Benedict XVI over his alleged cover-up of sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic church.

Harris, the author of The End of Faith, launched his appeal online, stating: “I would like to announce that Project Reason, the foundation that my wife and I started to spread scientific thinking and secular values, has joined Hitchens and Dawkins in an effort to end the ‘diplomatic immunity’ which the Vatican claims protects the Pope from any responsibility.

Nice to see Sam and Project Reason jumping on board.  If widespread and systematic cover-up of child abuse isn’t an indictable criminal offense, I shutter to imagine what the minimum villainy requirement could possibly be.

Good Luck, Sam Harris!  Hold old Ratzinger’s tiara to the fire!  He should have been arrested a long time ago!!  This shameful cult should not be above the law!

Although if he is arrested, there will be a religious outcry that will be unprecedented.

This is parallel to the movie ‘The Name Of the Rose’ originally from the novel by Uberto Eco, where the monks believed or so called make believe that they were trading with God, by in truth they were trading with the devil. The head monk in the end was discovered, poisoning the monks, by getting them to use a sacred book that contained poison on the pages, and when they used the fingers to turn the pages, they consumed poison orally by wetting the finger to turn pages. Each one died, when a another rival monk ‘Sean Connery’ discoverd his trick and deciet, and this head monk died in fire where the sacred book was kept.

I like the idea of Vetican being arrested. I go along with Sam Harris on this.

I deffinately support this. Not to be pessimistic but, realisticly, what are the chances of something like this working?
