Why especially this is so strange for You? You can also ask, don’t white pople realize that clerics introduced them to jesus to control them?
posted on May 28, 2009Excellent comments! Why limit the interpretation of the art to blacks in North America? One only needs to look at the true history of African people (prior to colonization and up to the present) to see that some form of worship (water, animals, fire, earth, etc) has been around for centuries. This includes all the people of Africa (white, light, brown and black). The concept of controlling people via fear and worship is not new in the world.
posted on August 22, 2009or why white supremists don’t actually know the historical background of this Jesus they love so much ( or try and use as justification for their nonsense). Jesus came out of the African continent. and he was a Jew!
Furthermore, it does seem that Christianity could be another form of slavery.. Blacks don’t see it as this. Many of them think Jesus is white, as many of my family members believe that they (blacks) are biologically inferior and pretend that they are white or indian, or what have you. They have strong imaginations!
posted on August 23, 2009Actually, Soledad, Jesus came out of the Asian continent. Israel and Palestine are geographically part of Asia, not Africa. The Isthmus of Suez and the Red Sea divide the two continents. So Jesus probably looked a lot like the Middle Easterners many Americans are so terrified of.
posted on September 12, 2009You are correct. Jesus was Middle Eastern. However, one might consider that Egypt is actually a part of Africa, and birthed mythology that eventually became modern day religion. Some Egyptian gods/goddesses were adopted by Europeans even before the transformation into monotheism.
Anyway…
This is not a race issue.
The point is that every modern day religion was formed in that area. For racists to use Christianity for their own sake to demean those of a darker hue is just asinine.
Interesting comment, Ljezard, if a little offensive, but there’s room for asking all types of questions here, so no need to silence anyone. I guess the question could be asked of lots of groups - Latinos or Irish people and Catholicism, for example. But it seems that what’s unsaid with your comment is that “and Blacks know that Whites don’t have their best interest in mind, so why would they accept Jesus.” Which I think is the thought pattern that led to many US Blacks joining groups like the Nation of Islam, which doesn’t get us very far either.
