Hey everybody.

I just wanted to start a thread to introduce myself a little bit lol

I’m 23 years old and, admittedly, a little new to the secular world (c. 2 years) but I’m loving it.  I was raised Lutheran in a small Missouri town where to think differently from the social norm is to be ostracized.  I think it’s safe to say that I have a personal grievance with faith, but I have a passion for secularism for a bigger reason.  I see all the effects of people blindly following a cause (i.e. The Crusades, The Holocaust, New Horizons Youth Ministries and not to mention the racism and bigotry) and feel not only a desire, but a responsibility as an intelligent being to stand up to it.

Hopefully that didn’t sound all dramatic or anything, but I wanted you guys to have a basic understanding of why I’m here.

SAPERE:.......The Crusades, The Holocaust, New Horizons Youth Ministries

Don’t know if these three are equivalent, but I understand what you’re saying…..

Welcome!

Welcome, Sapere. Sounds like you sought out the right forum. Enjoy, beware, behave, be reasonable, and always laugh at my jokes.

Welcome indeed.  For the first 30 days you get a break on popcorn sales.

About the only thing that one should take seriously on this forum is to enjoy interacting with others.  Educating them or being educated by them, may happen, but better for that goal to go to school. It is also useful to be able to laugh at oneself as readily as at others.

Welcome, O Wise One! You’re twenty-three, from Missouri doing naval duty in Hawaii and a recently deconverted Atheist. Sounds like you’ve got the wind at your back with smooth sailing ahead, the world’s your oyster ... you young whippersnapper!

Left Union Missouri when I was 7. Best thing that could of happened if my relatives are any indication of how I would have turned out.

Welcome.
