Good job! Discovered checks are met with discovered mates!
Next one:
White to move and mate in 2

I’ve never been too clever in these “mate in 2” scenarios. I don’t play enough. I would wage a war of attrition by first taking the rook with the knight and then taking the white -space bishop with my white-space bishop. That would clear the playing field, at which time I would slowly back the black king into a mate. Boring and unimaginative, but a win is a win. I see several possibilities of mate in 3 or 4 (without doing my war of attrition), but not 2. I’m sure it’s something brilliant, which I am not when it comes to chess.
Yeah, I too am stumped on that last one. Did you make these up yourself, George?
Don’t give away the whole answer at once if nobody figures it out—just the first move.
nope, lol, I’m not that good those are well known chess problems, players share at FICS - free international chess server. that’s where I play chess most of the time. As for the last problem it’s a tricky one I’m afraid by showing the first move it will spoil the idea.
I can however provide a hint:
If you look at blacks available moves, you’ll see that all but 2 of them allow mate in one. So find the 2 defenses, and work out how white can setup a mating reply for them.
Peace,
George.
