I love it when Mario talks about logic.

I don’t think the word’ irony’ is in his vocabulary either.

Just thought I’d pop in here to give us the proper Trinity.

What we don’t need is more people cock-sure of themselves long after it is obvious that they are on the wrong course.

Are you cock-sure that’s what you’re seeing when you think that’s what you’re seeing though (mostly the add-on clause, which seems rather presumptuous and extraneous, as if you’re preaching rather than just commenting)?

One example would be Sean Hannity claiming night after night (after the ouster of Saddam Hussein) that we were bound to find those weapons of mass destruction.

Another example would be Samy, perhaps partly due to language problems, who couldn’t understand that the roles he saw for men and women in his culture weren’t universal truth.  I wonder if he left because he felt abused or because he started to see holes in his blueprint for society.  Or maybe he just thought we were crazy.

Logic dictates that when a person makes an ass out of themselves in a gathering of fools, that person has a very fine (Portuguese) ass, indeed.

Delusions of grandeur indeed. Peddling your ass instead of a mind and not knowing the difference.

Ever hear the story about the priest who mooned the congregation?

Can’t argue with those examples ... though I don’t tend to appreciate the nuances of troll personalities because I’m usually pretty much ignoring them after maybe a half a dozen posts, and only get snippets here and there quoted by others. I only vaguely remember Sammy, but Sean Hannity and Bill “the tide goes in, the tide goes out” O’Reilly are clearly very cock sure types who are extremely resistant to correction (intellectually dishonest).

They’re what I call “bill-boarders,” they display their messages but do not engage in discourse nor any back and forth exchanges.

Standard issue Wingnutism as I call it (left or right or whatever).

Hopefully Sara’s monitoring (or just catches it when she comes back). Seems she’d want to see this one:

In Atheists We Distrust: Subjects Believe That People Behave Better When They Think That God is Watching Over Them (and there may be some truth to it)

Huh ... and so you did.

Guess it’ll be a reminder then, plus maybe others missed that post like I did (and based upon some of the ideas presented, it would seem some must have).

I missed it too, or don’t remember.  So does that mean Atheists are more mature? That Atheists have transcended the need to depend on the externalized Adult/Authority and incorporated it internally as a self-regulating function and/or simply rely on secular authority as their guide?

... or that those who perceive people who believe an external authority is always watching are more trustworthy just haven’t grown out of it yet ... or have trust issues ... or are untrusworthy themselves and project that onto others (and no, I don’t mean to imply that means Sara—that would be her call—it’s just not unusual among people with trust issues)?

No, only every third word, actually.
