How many biblical characters are supposedly totally without sin?
In the Biblical accounts, only Jesus. Nothing is said in the Bible about Mary being sinless. That is a matter of Catholic tradition and an ex cathedra statement by one of the later Popes.
If that’s the case, this immaculate conception thing was meaningless. Mary was purged of original sin, but not of sin. And thus, jesus was not born of an untainted host. Complete circle jerk by those lights.

Are you implying that there is some other part of the story that isn’t complete circle jerk

I don’t know anywhere in the Bible where it argues that Jesus, in order to be sinless, had to be born of a sinless mother. She referred to God as her “savior” in the Magnificat, so I assume she felt some sense of sin. I’m not a fan of the whole Original Sin thing, anyway, but if Mary is purged of original sin, then Jesus was born without it. From that point, he was on his own, and according to Scripture, did not sin. I’m not seeing where the problem is.

That may be a point of reference problem, given that the problem is everywhere in this faith. It seems silly to focus on this one detail, but my point was that Mary was purged of “original sin” only by this immaculate conception horse apple. If she’s not alleged to have been otherwise without sin, then she sinned on her own, possibly before hatching jesus, making jesus’ whole born of sin-free mother quality rather fleeting, if not totally undone. Imagine going through the trouble of the immaculate conception only to have Mary disobey her mother when she was five, neutralizing the whole stupid enterprise?

There’s just no need to have Mary conceived immaculately, or to be sinless in any way. If there is such a thing as “original sin”, it was passed through the father (a legal concept - more like “original guilt”, not actual sin) from Adam on. Since Jesus had no earthly father, there was no original guilt. As far as sin itself is concerned, he had to gain control over his own human nature just like we all do. As a Jew, his concept of sin would have been violating the Torah, so to say he was sinless means that he never violated the Torah after his bar mitzvah. For the Christian, we have a new covenant with Jesus personally not based on the Torah, so the idea of sin is really sort of passe’. But preachers are always trying to bring their congregants under sin’s power again so they can control them.
To understand origination of the immaculate conception, you first need to understand the planting mythology based on the wheat seed. You sacrifice seed (from the father plant) and bury it in virgin mother earth. Iit is reborn/resurrected to provide the bread and beer of life, year after year, forever. Jesus was a slight upgrade and incorporated (married) the grape vine. In Roman times a ‘real’ god would be upscale and drink wine not beer.

masturbatory stroke of anti-genius,like a nutty turd. What a load. I proclaim an immaculate seed, so blow me.

It certainly seems like a convoluted invention, which can be tossed into an ocean of other convoluted inventions, (cf. ‘Catholicism ain’t my religion, Islam ain’t my religion, Hindusim ain’t my religion, etc; etc; etc; - they can all have their convoluted inventions, but mine is the one I prefer to stick with’, {says the so called enlightened modern Christian}. ‘Even a whole bunch of preacher’s are up the creek, with their abuse of the concept of “sin”’ {it says in the quote box above} ).

Well your rational account of the state of the soul of Jesus, throws into doubt the actual intelligence of the popes/cardinals/scripters who brought in (rather recently) that lame excuse about the “immaculate conception of Mary.” To think that these apparent “know it alls” who speak directly from the spirit of Jehovah could miss the mark so conspicuously here, shows just how adhoc their intentions were . . . perhaps the whole bible is constructed out of this kind of intellectual lazilness? What am I saying “perhaps” - it stands to reason.
