So there you have it—God may not intervene when, say, children are being raped by pedophiles, he is directly intervening in the NFL, and deserves some credit for Denver making it to the second round of the playoffs.
I hate the New England Patriots, but right now I’m hoping Belichek and Brady tear Tebow a new one.

No, this just shows how God answers prayers. He’s goal oriented (pardon the pun) and likes exciting finishes. So, when people are about to be raped, they should pray for Tim Tebow to fight through the forces of evil and save the victim at the last minute - a specific goal. Tim Tebow could become the patron saint of those in dire circumstances.
Except that God NEVER answers the prayers of amputees wishing to be cured.
I also wonder why God ignores Tebow’s religious opponents. Surely some of his opponents are every bit as religiously devout as he is. Why would their prayers for a victory go unanswered? And by the way, how did Tebow arrive at his Christian beliefs? Why isn’t he a devout Muslim? Geez, I wonder if his Christian parents had any influence on his belief system. Come on you 43%, wake up!!
Except that God NEVER answers the prayers of amputees wishing to be cured.
THat’s because they haven’t learned to pray a last-second, goal-oriented prayer. A general “heal me” is not going to do it. It has to be a “I’ve-got-to-be-healed-right-now-this-second-or-my-life/season-will-be-over-send-Tim-Tebow” prayer.
As much as I revile Jim Carrey, there is a part in his movie Bruce Almighty when he is granted all of God’s powers but he can’t take answering all the prayers and decides to say yes to every prayer. Then the roof caved in. Everyone won the lottery so the winnings were something like $10 each. Everyone got what they wanted and all the associated problems with them. It was a good lesson why God doesn’t answer prayers, then I imagine what would happen if I said yes to every one of my two kids’ requests.
God’s life would be a whole lot easier without us. Either that or he’s got a sick sense of humor.
For every prayer God would answer, there would be many he did not. What if somebody on the Steelers had prayed as hard and sincere as Tebow?
God is biased then, and not omnibenelovent.
Of course he is not omnibenevolent. That is a Greek philosophical idea that is foreign to Christianity. God has his favorites, at least for the present. He likes Tebow and hates the Chicago Cubs. Ultimately, there is more equality. The end of the drama is good.
It’s blatantly unfair. The NFL needs to impose an extreme penalty for the use of any deities.
It should be an Illegal Use of A Deity penalty, and it should cost the offending team at least their current or next offensive series, minimum. So if the offending team just got a first down, they give up the ball right then as if the last play was a 4th down, and they’d lose any yardage they’d gained on the play. If it happens when they’re on defense, they’d play the series as normal, but they’d have to kick off to the other team when the other team would normally kick off to them, and if they stop the other team they’d have to punt the ball back to them.

I agree with this rule change. It should especially be imposed on SEC teams. They are obviously using their special connection to God, as the conference best positioned in the Bible Belt, to win national championships year after year. The extreme unfairness of having two teams not only from the same conference but the same damn division playing for the championship is totally unfair. God must be kept out of football, unless and until he sees fit to give grace to the Dallas Cowboys again. There is some hope, as the Heisman did end up in it’s rightful place in Central Texas. I sense a movement of the Spirit. Please note that Baylor, in the heart of Texas, is the only school with a Heisman and an undefeated men’s and women’s basketball team right now - and the only school from which I receive a Law Degree - coincidence? I Don’t Think So!!! God is moving.
The problem with having one god is that it’s got no competition, therefore it can be capricious without penalty. It’s time to re-introduce a pantheon of gods so that they compete for attention and glory which will bring balance to the game. Then SX’s rule will be unnecessary, especially since proving a deity’s intervention would be difficult. Sport would also prove which deity is superior just by checking the scoreboard.

Your team couldn’t make the cut ... eh?
A&M are going to get their asses kicked in that conference.
I’m in no position to judge, though. Nebraska switched to the Big Ten for the television revenue. Just in time to be associated with Penn State. Yay.
