How does knowing that God exists and that I will live forever become a “self-inflicted wound”?

Because that ...

Leads to this ...

And the existence of God can only bring hope and joy in a person’s life, while atheism is the stuff of despair and sorrow.

In which case, a competent psychologist and a willing client can come up with a healthy resolution, as painful as these types of introspections usually are if therapies, unlike sara’s assessment, are to be successful.

Wronganswerer, why do I keep getting the feeling that you type with yellow fingers from smoking camel cigarettes?

God, of course.  That’s all he can see.

Sara,

You have no need for an apology.  Notice that BM never does so.

Which is another reason to apologize.  The fewer ways I resemble BM the better I feel about myself….

I’d say you guys could do far better going elsewhere for your standards.

Wronganswerer, a bad hip.

saralynn, really? Read your friends more objectively. I know you have learned before that being comfortable in our selfishness and sins is what the enemy hopes for. Our best “friends” tell us the truth about ourselves and reality, not apathetic compliments or like-minded falsehoods. This truth hurts most when falsity has embedded itself deepest. Stop questioning my style of delivery, and start questioning your capability for reception. It is, after all, the truth I am offering you.

Atheism is the stuff of despair and sorrow?

This is old, old mentality at work here. The ages of reason and science have brought wonderful depth to the lives of those who do not succumb to gullibility and superstition.

A persons life based on secular humanism and science can be as fulfilling as any persons religious delusions of grandeur.

Read ‘Unweaving The Rainbow’ by Dawkins and you will understand more about this Mario. The entire book is about this issue.

Many years ago when I was a Christian and trying to reconcile my Christian beliefs with reality, I was constantly confused and frustrated. Since becoming a nonbeliever I am much more secure and happy with my life, and what I observe as human life in general.

Atheism for me truly was a great awakening.

Fact is more fascinating than fiction, and our universe and our existence is never boring and usually quite exciting.

We live in a wonderful age. It’s a shame that the religious are missing it.

In your (not so humble) opinion.

“Humble” is not a term I associate with BM.  Arrogant, narcissistic, condescending….

Not just my “opinion”. Read these others. Look deeper for meanings. And then sit quietly with these readings and these depths in your mind.

And I find your prescriptions where? On the shelf at Barnes and Noble’s, “How to be a Nut-bag for Idiots.”

Sadly, yet again, I stumble upon a high jacked thread.

BM, you’re like buzz killington from family guy.
