I want to think it was written by a 12 year old but it wasn’t.  Apologies in advance if it gives you a headache.  Also, maybe it’s mean to mock someone this inept.

It is not mean.  Arrogant ignorance and its intentional spread need not be treated with kindness nor moderation.  But don’t waste too much time trying to change clowns such as these since apathy is their real enemy.

I think its mean to mock someone that inept.  I didn’t read the whole thread, but I felt badly for them when the smarty pants atheist came into the room and wrecked the party.  The name of the website is “TalkJesus”, not “DebateJesus”  It seems like a site where Christians go to chitchat with each other.  Yeah, they brought up atheism….but, not really.  It was a means of expressing why they believe…not meant to be an argumentation.

But, I’m sure they will huddle together and strengthen each other so I shall not be concerned.

Oh, I dunno…maybe I’m being pissy.  I woke up in a bad mood.  Besides, as I said, I didn’t read the entire thread.  Maybe, at some point, they got obnoxious.

If he weren’t such an ignorant and arrogant arse I’d agree.

I didn’t read much beyond the initial reactions to the very basic degree of honesty that was imposed upon them, but I found their celebration of vapidity repulsive, and their nasty, cowardly reaction to the initial post of simple answers to their nonsense demonstrated how shallow and feeble and self-indulgent their thinking really is—propped up by very willful ignorance and fear and nastiness, a fine example of the very worst that human nature has to offer, disguised as high virtue in institutionalized form.

Disgusting.

I might have written that first atheist post in such a forum when I was a believer (except that I wasn’t a believer any more by the time the interwebs went public).

There has to be a place for vapid, nasty, shallow, feeble, and self-indulgent people to congregate besides Tea Party Rallies.

I didn’t read enough to reply knowledgeably, and I don’t care enough to do so.

Ha!

Okay, that was pretty funny, but my amusement is very short-lived on this one. I can’t shake the fact that this brand of religion doesn’t only give such people an outlet for vapid, nasty, shallow, feeble self-indulgence, it encourages it, teaches it, institutionalizes it, in fact, and packages it as the highest virtue to those it gets on the Kool-Aid, and convinces the faithful that those who have too much intellectual integrity to pull it off (which isn’t necessarily much) are depraved and evil and such.

Can’t blame you there—I read somewhat more than I’d've cared to as well. I don’t find that sort of dishonesty and depravity amusing at all, personally.

ROTFL! I could not get past the ‘dogs show ‘unconditional love’ part!

is that like.all dogs go to heaven?

What about the Pit Bull that crushes the skull of a 2 year old child?

Such radical compartmentalisation is astounding. And to hear apologists and sympathizers criticize Dawkins for calling this behavior and thought process a delusion.

Oh please!!!

Well -

I attempted to join the forum over on that site to open some discussion in reason. Lets just say I have had easier tax audits than the hoops you have to go through to get on the christian “a” list for submitting to their forum. I suspect my application for the site will be denied, I was not evasive in filling out the form, simply suggesting open debate would be intellectually stimulating for all sides. Back to the bat cave i suppose.

end of line

You at first wonder how such intellectually bereft people can be a threat - but when they number in the millions, share/uphold/promote toxic beliefs and whose ignorance is exploited by a few people in positions of great power, then it’s a worry. It’s the broad base of very unsound reasoning and it needs to be eroded.

I do get the impression that some of these dullards share a vacuous cheerfulness and I wonder if, because they are unable to think more critically, that they more readily find solace.

Anyway, I find their rigid, backwards thinking and their arrogant assertions both rude and frustrating. I’m not prepared to jeopardise my sanity and take them on in such a forum but I’ll speak my mind whenever I encounter this kind of argument in day to day life. One day they won’t feel as though they’re in a majority and hopefully pull their heads in.

This below was pretty pathetic.

Dear Atheist - 08-28-07, 02:10 AM
Here’s my personal letter to all atheists who deny GOD.

Dear Atheist,

Do you think its a coincidence that…
of billions of stars and planets in the many galaxies, only earth has life, and abundance of it?

the sun is 400 times the size of the earth’s moon, 400 times further away from earth than the moon, yet they look both proportionally the same size in our sky?

the sun lights the days nicely, while the moon glimmers in the night sweetly and the clouds bring forth rain to water our crops, which bring forth food in your stomach?
Do you think its a coincidence that…
birds in the air whistle sweet songs and dogs show unconditional love?

your body heals naturally when you cut yourself, or you become sick and it goes away?

humans have intangible senses, called emotions where we feel love, hate, anger, sadness, happiness, shock, confused, hurt, healed, and so forth?
Do you think its a coincidence that…
you were born from a lady’s womb and you will die a death, without choice of either?

the complexity of dna is so mind boggling, that scientists worldwide now have gone from ‘no god’ to claiming a “Divine Creator”? (read)

your body’s anatomy is complex, so fine and so articulate that you wonder how this “accident” came to be?
Do you think its a coincidence that…
there are endless variety of delicious fruits, vegetables, nuts, wheats to make infinite delicious recipes to satisfy our hunger?

there are thousands and thousands of exotic amazing land animals and thousands more amazing sea creatures?

you have eyes so you can see, ears so you can hear, heart so you can feel, mind so you can think?
Do you think its a coincidence that…
there are thousands of recovered artifacts proving the validity of Scripture, the Holy Bible itself? (example)

those who have faith in Jesus Christ witness miracles, worldwide? (read)

almost all Old Testament prophecies have been already fulfilled and more continue being fulfilled? (read)
Do you think its a coincidence that…
a farmer plants the seeds, yet the farmer does not make the seed grow and the farmer never initially created the seed?

that fruits and vegetables have seeds so that they produce more fruits and vegetables?

your body needs vitamins and nutrients found in GOD’s natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, wheat?
Do you think its a coincidence that…
you just happened to be here on a Christian site reading this letter? (read)
your calendar says that the current year is 2009? What happened 2009 years ago?

Yes, DC, it is pathetic to use ignorance, fear, and arrogance to explain one’s god.  Imagine a Math teacher saying 2+2=4, and if you ask why it is so you will be beaten, and if the beatings don’t stop you, you will be banished.  George Orwell’s 1984 is as much an indictment of religion as it is of tyrannical government.

Why would anyone feel bad for the cute little christians, who basically beg to be leveled by anyone with a waking consciousness.  I guess I find myself feeling more and more support for Hitchens’ notions that this kind of ignorance deserves to be ridiculed whenever and wherever possible.
