I do wonder how legalities work re internet postings. Surely, SURELY, people are dissing other people all over the place. (And Saralynn was just describing a situation as she sees it about someone none of us know.) Certainly, outside the internet, there is slander and libel. What it the threshold for these crimes? It can’t just be saying or writing bad stuff about someone, or we’d all be in the pokey. Certainly, posting naked photos of someone without their permission is a crime. What are the legal limits of free speech on a forum?
And Saralynn, just to put my 2 cents in, I agree with the posters who said that your providing a calm example and occasional refuge is the best help for the kids. Bake cookies with them. Take them to the roller rink or bowling. Let them see that not everyone blows up when something doesn’t go their way.
My own dad was very impatient. He hated waiting in lines, especially a line of traffic trying to enter or exit an event. So I can only remember attending one sports game with him, followed by a stream of grumbling in the congested parking lot. ‘Never again,” he said. Thus the first time I attended a crowded event with friends when I was older, I was anticipating us getting mad about the traffic, but instead, the people I was riding with were excitedly talking about how fun the show had been. What a relief! Ever since then, I’ve considered it a victory every time I remain good-tempered in this type of situation. Sounds kinda silly and common sense, but it is something I don’t take for granted. Trying to convince my dad to be patient would have been useless.
