Like Andrew says, Mr. Wind is the programming specialist. We just have delete buttons.
I wonder if the thousands of spam-less bots are simply there to make the few posting bots harder to find. Mostly, it is a handful of hands-on posters trying hard to look genuine. Like Ms. Colon just now… that was almost a coherent, topic-related post. But it is spam. And hence, insincere.
Smart123 is definitely a person. Mr. 3 puts up 12 to 20 posts even while I am deleting up the list right behind him. He’ll wait until I log off (I get bounced off when skype rings) and post another dozen. It is a senseless personal vendetta. These repeat offenders have to realize that this site is defended. They always log in to a zero post count. You would think they would seek out other prey, but no, they keep coming back. What’s it for?
I send PM’s while they are at it saying, “We hate you and your golf clubs. Go away!” I got one back saying they have a right to earn a living. Where do you find a job like that? Are these Chrysler engineers with nothing left to do?
I have become fascinated/repulsed by the blather-speak of the ads and the kind of mind that composes them.
Years ago, I spent many long hours trapped in a little office waiting for convention events to play out. I shared it with the Banquet Manager. There was a young women who did a short stint as an Assistant manager. She was impersonal, barely spoke and spent endless hours typing in the office. We all thought she was in college and working on a thesis or something. Everyone knew I was writing a brain book but she typed a lot louder than I did. Where I could type for an hour, she could type for four or five. If she stepped away, she hid the screen.
One day, she left it out. We had to peek. It was sales blather. Pages and pages of it. High class stuff, too. It was blather interspersed with drivel that was nicely paced in a mundane tone with mundane words that create a clear context of vacuity wrapped in an overall flavor of playful nonsense. I had to admire it. As well, it was like Wendy in The Shinning looking at Jack’s Great American Novel. Or Col. Kurtz “the horror… the horror…” She had to know we saw it. We never looked at her the same again. She didn’t last long… got a sales job, I think.
BM has a talent for blather-speak that shows in his posting. It similarly drips and oozes with insincerity.
As a member of the Spam Workforce, I am repulsed at the black hole of time and effort that is “Desperate Advertising”. It is worse than all the fuel we waste driving mega-tons of kitty litter around.
At the same time, I am having a sort of roadside-accident fascination with it. Just like you guys with BM.
