If you read through this entire thread I think you may find that this book is most probably not very interesting. We pryed enough info out of Mr Poe to find out what his motives are.
I’ll sum it up. Basically Poe is going to try and convince people of a conspiracy. You know, one of those..‘everything you thought was true is not’ kind of ideas.
We all have been duped. Religion, philosophy and science have all convinced us of things that are not true. We have been conditioned to accept the status quo reasoning of the last 5,000 years or so.
But Poe, with his select group of archaeologists, psychologists etc., have uncovered the absolute and real truth. And that truth has been found in ancient Sumerian stone tablets. That we have been genetically engineered by sentinet beings from another planet.
And this is known and has been covered up for thousands of years. It is the only and true explanation of our existence.
So. Enjoy the book, and come back and tell us all about it later.

And it is only the simplicity of the “Sumerian’s chronicles of the space men explain everything” theory that would even allow a book of such utterly breathtaking sweep.

This looks really interesting (A book on “Social and neurological consequences of belief systems”). This is unique and I think never been touched before.
Entire libraries could be filled with books about the social consequences of belief systems. For interesting books on the neurological consequences of (or sources of) belief systems, I might recommend Damasio’s “Descartes Error” and Dennet’s “Consciousness Explained.” I hope they get you started on the exploration of the relationship between neurology and consciousness and “belief.”
Especially when the commentary that follows is the typical, ‘we are all closed minded,’ and ‘prove me wrong’ etc., etc.,
When Mr Poe offered to us that the fundamental proposition he was advertising was that we were genetcially engineered by other sentinet beings from another planet, my first response was….so, who genetically engineered the sentinet beings?
Of course no answer. Simply the replacement of one mystery by another…game.
I find it hard to believe that humans are still falling for this actually.
Everything is designed by a designer except the designer. Good grief.
Next step is to find an instruction manual that prescribes maintenance and proper use. Then it requires a small service fee or royalty to be paid to the representatives, and lays out punishment for those not following their instructions. That sound familar?
It’s always nice to find someone in your life that supports you, I hope eudemonia and Dennis will be very happy, see, you’re taking me down to your level so I guess it’s time to disengage, Bye

Eudemonia,
I think we may have offended Rahasya. I guess it is offensive when someone’s pretensions are laughed at. Now I’ll feel guilty for all of three seconds. There, now I feel better.

Mr. Poe, surely you can see how we here would be skeptical of the claims being presented as they are. I hope you don’t think that we all think life elsewhere in the universe is not possible or probable. But really, if they are much more advanced and arrived here and inter-bred with our ancestors, that raises a lot of biological questions for which I think we would have some indications. Additionally, the question of having ample evidence that is being hidden from us, as I said, just doesn’t add up. Do you realize the knowledge and advancements that could be derived, not to mention Nobel prizes and other unresistable incentives for letting the cat out of the bag? Plus, if they are peaceful and are our forefathers, wouldn’t they assist in ending our path to destruction through wars, disease ... and what about the planet? Are there so many inhabitable ones within their reach that this one is so easily expendable? Right now, there are too many alternative explanations that are pretty well-grounded scientifically, or that are possible, or that we may not know but jumping to the wrong conclusions which you alluded to is so close to filling the god-gap that we just can’t buy it. Where does that leave us? Right where we’re at and rightly so. But we’re waiting ... waiting for god and waiting for aliens ... only we’re not holding our breath. That’s the most I can give you on this at the present time, probably for the duration.
It is a mistake, I think, to assume that most people posting on those forum are somehow required to consider all posted propositions with respect. If some proposition is considered, as this one has been, and most assign it a probability of something like P=.000001, then it no longer deserves the time and effort for further consideration. Skepticism, not credulity, is a usual trait of members of this forum. I’ve no problem, obviously, in laughing at a proposition; that is an attack on the proposition advanced, the person posting that proposition is not the explicit target. It is not incumbent upon us to somehow verify the validity of any proposition, and certainly not “to prove it wrong,” it is incumbent on the person posting to demonstrate some basis for any further serious consideration. That has not been done. What is that line, to the effect that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence?
Yes. Go back and read through the thread if you have time. He is offended that we don’t take his claims seriously I am afraid. What he seems not able to understand is that this is the ‘reason’ project, and most of us here are skeptics, so we ‘think’ about all propositions. And nothing he has brought to the table have we not heard in some way before.
We skeptics live by the rational viewpoint of ‘extraordinary claims, require extraordinary evidence’ and if someones claims here, don’t produce that type of evidence, that person will most likely not be taken seriously.
This is not a good place for conspiracy theorists.
I don’t think we need to apologize for that either.

Scanned thread and his web site. I’ll never get back that time spent for no value gained,
There are thousands of books like this on the lucrative new age market. They usually end with a statement along the lines of you have the power to cure yourself of any illness and and attract $millions simply by changing your beliefs. The author will then refer you to more books by the same publisher and suggest courses for you to attend. When the books and courses fail to produce the results they promise it’s because you haven’t applied the techniques correctly so you will need to buy more books and attend more courses. But don’t worry, during this time you can make money by promoting the books and courses to your friends and family. You could even start your own business as a new age therapy practitioner. I should add that I have not read this book and the above is my opinion based on the marketing material at amazon.
