Project Reason is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation devoted to spreading scientific knowledge and secular values in society. The foundation draws on the talents of prominent and creative thinkers in a wide range of disciplines to encourage critical thinking and erode the influence of dogmatism, superstition, and bigotry in our world.
The primary goal of The Reason Project is to promote critical thinking. We invite you to help us by participating in our yearly video contest.
The prize for the winning video of 2009 will be $10,000.
Stay tuned to this page: videos will be posted here, and visitors to the site will be able to vote for their favorites.
Guidelines and Fine Print:
1. Please make a short video (it can be either live-action or animated) that in some way conveys the message of the foundation. Put it up on YouTube and inform us of its existence by submitting its URL here [link to come].
2. Please DO NOT incorporate the Reason Project logo or name into your video or otherwise associate your work with the work of the foundation.
3. While the winning video may be of any length, videos under five minutes will have a distinct advantage. All else being equal, shorter is always better on the Internet.
4. Needless to say, the work you submit must be your own.
5. While we intend to announce a winner by January 1st, 2010, we may prolong the contest to ensure that a sufficient number of high quality videos have been entered.
Many thanks for you participation, and good luck!
I guess I can not participate since I am on the staff!!!!
I would so win!
Anyway 10k is a lot of money, anyone taking this up? Maybe people will have suggestions for those how are going to participate in this.

Al Olmstead has been banned from the Forum, as it turns out, every account will be banned that he start’s. If this is an issue for him this is not the place for it.
I will be splitting off the derail post from this thread as they have nothing to do with the OP.
I will get that information, but for now DO NOT POST YOUR VIDEOS HERE. I would suggest for you to keep it to yourself until we are not accepting anymore entries for the contest.
We are still designing the contest voting system and writing the formal rules for the contest. It will probably be a combination—10 or 20 videos might get selected by judges, and then these will get voted on.
Will visitor’s votes ultimately determine the winner? If so, I’ll probably sit this one out. It’s usually the person who can spam enough people on Facebook, who wins! Or, in one such contest I entered, it was the person who ran a non-profit church-related organization; they put a link in their newsletter, which ended up in churches all over their state. Ew.
