What If All Atheists Left America?

Video: Proud Atheists

What would happen if all atheists left America?

* All fields of science would be less progressive and suffer from significant personnel shortages.
This would include all the general and specialized sciences of:
Chemistry, Astronomy, Earth sciences, Environmental sciences, Biology, Anthropology, Psychology, Philosophy, Health sciences and many others.

* Not all atheists are scientists. Many of us are in the entertainment business, radio and performing arts, too. I’m quite sure that Bill Maher, Seth MacFarlane, Keanu Reeves and even Andy Rooney would be missed.
We atheists are employed as blue collar and white collar alike. You might also notice that a close friend, a teacher, a bus driver or even that fellow coworker in the factory or office has left.

* Think about the impact on our nation’s economy and national debt. Can our nation withstand the loss of 10% of it’s tax revenue and buying power?

So, would you really want all atheists to leave your country?

Brilliant, except they left out a major group. Medical doctors. A good many of them would be outtahere!

To the woman who wrote the letter to the editor: You are a monumental twit and the precise reason many of us “evil” atheists are so outspoken. I find it interesting in your statement that Americans must believe in god, where you then you go on to name several different Christian denominations. Are we to assume then that you mean all Americans must believe only in the Christian version of god? So perhaps not only all atheists but all other believers must leave aswell? That would indeed decrease the population in more ways than you would care to imagine.

Then again, maybe you mean that we all must believe in A god. In that case, I must assume that you would rather be surrounded by radical islamists than us peaceful atheists. They believe in god, so by your own reckoning anre good people and worthy of being “on” your country.

Then again, perhaps what you should remind yourself of is what it really means to live in a “free” country. Get over it you petty, small minded ignoramus.

“Our currency even says, ‘In God We Trust’”
—Alice Shannon

Now I better appreciate why people make such a fuss about the presence of ‘In God We Trust’ on our money. People who think like Alice Shannon are the reason.

I understand the principled stance that the law passed by congress in 1864 adding the motto ‘In God We Trust’ to our currency is a violation of the first amendment of our constitution (the part that states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion”) ... but I never fully appreciated why this should be such a big deal. It’s just a motto.

Now I understand better why people care to make such a big deal about it. Thank you.

The chewing tobacco industry, however, would not be affected.  Focus on the silver lining, people.

And speaking of silver lining… airstream trailers would probably be a stable investment as well.

One problem with the video… would Keanu Reeves really be a loss?

tghe video is flawed… it includes Stephan Hawking.  I am proud to count such a great intellect as a fellow atheist.  But last time I checked he does not live in America.

A couple of points have been made poking holes in Alice’s editorial rant.  I agree with the commentary; however, I was particularly bothered by the last sentence.

Did anyone else notice the obvious contradiction?  Again, I agree with the freedom of and from religion aspect and the in god we trust history, but the contradiction in the last sentence disturbed me.

Alice is a person that is either emotionally disturbed at the prospect that she knows enough that the world view she holds is corrupt or devoid of reasoning capability.  The former can be fixed; the latter is permanent and cannot be helped.  The latter is also a symptom of years of conditioning.

I love how ignorant people think this country was founded on christian beliefs.  How easily they forget (or ignorantly never learned) that this countries principles on religion were created by men who did not belong to any religious sect.  There were many a few who strongly believed that Christianity was incorrect but still wanted to give people the freedom to believe it.

Plus, I don’t recall of any governmental document that declares I MUST believe in a god… if I MUST believe, you will not have to “stomp” me out..  I will gladly leave.

Hopefully Alice will come through this sparkling like diamonds.
Absolutely correct in exerting the extreme dangers of communism I mean atheism. Karl Marx “Where atheism begins communism begins” And for a communist leader to say his country could conquer the United States without a single bullet being fired the communist party is doing a pretty darn good job.

I heard once that all you need is 30,000 people to start your own country. Does anyone know if there is such an international requirement by some ‘world’ body? It would be great to have our own country. Origin of the species in all hotel rooms! At last!

I don’t think any Americans want to lead the USA because a new theological science will soon replace most current sciences. To go to another nation to work on failing sciences would be a very bad decision.  There is a God. Atheists just do not recognize this truth.  This truth is hidden becvause atheistsl do not appreciate the work of Galileo on ‘indivisibles.’ Look at my latest blogs on indivisibles at http://georgeshollenberger.blogspot.com/

Is there by any chance a moderator who can stop Mr. Shollenberger from posting his self-promoting nonsense on this site?
To know exactly who we are dealing with, here are some of Mr. Shollenberger’s views:
On ‘black Americans’
“Nixon was forced by black Americans to reduce the space project. Their argument was that people cannot eat space satellites and spacecrafts. Today, we know that going into space had positive effects on all fields of thought. These effects lifted the thoughts of Americans to higher levels, just as Jesus Christ said such a project would. However, reducing the space project caused many layoffs. Many mathematicians, scientists, engineers, and technicians became unemployed. Families were broken and many murders and suicides occurred.
When President Chavez talks down to our president and tries to buy black American friends with free oil, I detect a hidden motive. I hope black Americans recall the bad argument they made in the 1970s on the space program. Useful projects, but not ’handout or stay busy’ projects, are the kind of projects that Jesus Christ would initiate if He were here today. So, if President Chavez wants to build a communistic nation in North America, as well as in South America, then I recommend that black Americans follow Christ, not Chavez.”
On Koreans
“The person who killed 32 people at Virginia Tech yesterday was known for his violent writings and was a 23-year old Korean citizen, whose name was Cho SeungpHui. He thus had a Korean MINDSET, not an American MINDSET. I argue that this difference was the primary cause of Virginia Tech’s deaths.”
On Jews
“During my life (as a Christisn), I met and worked with many Jews. I detected two different groups of Jews. I stayed away from one group because they acted the way you are acting to me.”
“Mark [a blogger who was critical of Shollenberger’s book] is a Jew and seems to hate Christians and seniors.”
On homosexuals
“I view homosexuality as a behavior against God’s rights and originate in the formation of a person’s mind. Flawed symbolic languages are the corrupting agency. These flaws turn people against God in different degrees.”
