Pat Condell blows my mind and seems to do it effortlessly and off the top of his head, which makes it all the more amazing. I aspire to that kind of lightning quick deconstruction of superstitions myself someday. And I hope some religious people actually stop to listen.

Pat Condell is a genius and a hero. He writes and talks so well and is at the same time extremely funny and extremely cogent. His videos will not be extant once the world is consumed by Islam, because of the mass indolence and cowardice (Yale - FU) of non muslims, so enjoy these videos for what they are - part of the death rattle of the enlightenment.

I loved the rant. Entertaining and amusing. It felt good to hear Pat tear a strip off the human concept of god and I agreed with every nasty, evil, horrible thing he said about him. But I don’t paint the whole human race with the same cloudy brush. Yes, the concept of a god is a human creation, but humans also practice love, compassion, generousity and integerety. Based on the fact that we’ll have a better chance of pulling ourselves out of the fire if we adopt a positive attitude about ourselves, I prefer to blame the horrors of religion on the preists, rabis and islamic ministers (imams?) both past and present. They’re the ones that wrote the negative, nasty dogmatism in the bible and the koran. They’re the ones that conceived of, organized or conducted the inquisition, suicide bombings and sexual exploitation of children. I agree it is shameful that many billions of humans still believe, not only in the supernatural but in a supernatural psychopath. But it is also true that several millions of us do get it -do see religion for what it is - do believe that humans are capable of “humane” behaviour in the absence of the supernatural. We should all be spending our time acknowledging the capacity for good behaviour in people. If the other billions of humans aren’t ready to let go of the supernatural, then we should spend our time working on things that humans are ready for - namely getting the hate and murder out of the three main organized relligions. If you want to spend your time more productively, but still feel good about it, convince some muslims to tell their imam to treat women equally or to condenm suicide bombing. Convince some jews to tell their rabi to edit the murder and haterd out of the oldtestament. Convince some christians to tell their pope to give a few billion dollars in roman catholic assets to feed the staving and administer birth control in sub Saharan Africa. In other words - do some good.
